How are team formed?
All athletes will fill out a self evaluation at the time of registration which will tell the tournament committee their skill level. The committee will do their best to create 8 even teams of 13 players plus one goalie based on the athletes self assessment. Teams will be posted on the Ringette in the Rockies website by Wed Sept 11, 2019
Will I get to play with my friends?
Yes, each player can request to play on a team with one other player. As long as both players request each other as their top choice they will be placed together on the same team.
I have never played ringette before can I participate?
Yes, as long as you can skate a little and have full equipment as per the Ringette Canada Rules you can participate. There will be players of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. This is what makes the tournament so fun!
What is the age of the athletes?
This tournament is for those 18 and over only.
How many games will I play?
Each team will play a total of 4 games. Teams will play 3 games on Saturday AND 1 game on Sunday.
What time will the tournament start and end?
Games start at either 8:45am or 9:00am on Saturday Sept 14th (depending on which pool you are in). The last set of games for all teams end by 12:45pm on Sunday Sept 15th.
Are their referees?
Yes, we will have referees for each game. See the tournament rules section on the website for more details.
Do we need to bring a jersey?
Yes, you should bring a jersey however we will supply the pinnies for the games.
Where are the games played?
All games will be played at the Fenlands arena in Banff.
How much does the tournament cost?
The early bird rate is $240 before May 31st, 2019. Starting June 1, 2019 the rates go up to $265/player so register early (and tell your friends) to get the best rate. This rate does not include accommodations. We only have room for 8 teams so be sure to register early to hold your spot. Events similar to this have sold out early in the past.
*Please note the rate for goaltenders is $200 as a special incentive to ensure we have one of the most important positions on the ice filled for all games!

What can we do when we are not at the rink?
On Friday night we have reserved a section at Wild Bills Legendary Saloon in downtown Banff. The party starts at 7:30pm. Come listen to great tunes, dance and have a beverage or two with friends and fellow tournament athletes.
There are lots of restaurants, pubs and shopping in downtown Banff which is a short drive from the host hotels and the arena.
Banff has many spa locations throughout town. The Banff Springs Hotel is a major tourist attraction and has a world renowned Spa.
What accommodations are available?
Ringette in the Rockies has arranged deals at 2 hotels. The Hidden Ridge Resort and the Tunnel Mountain Resort are offering participants a 15% discount on room bookings. Each resort has a variety of rooms, some units that hold 10-12 people and others for smaller groups. The larger units will fill up fast so please register early to get your first choice of accommodations. Players are not required to stay at these hotels and may make alternate arrangements if they would prefer.
Players will need to call the hotels or book online to make their own reservation. Ringette in the rockies will not be booking rooms for players.
